We met our senior year of high school. We were paired together as AVID tutors, tutoring Mr. Arkangel’s 10th grade class and Mr. Mejia’s 11th grade class. We graduated high school in 2014 and were both going to start college at Cal State Fullerton in Fall 2014. We ended up dating over the summer and on September 7th, 2014, we were official (We just celebrated 10 years together). Emily graduated with a BA in Business Administration and Nick graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. We got engaged June 2nd 2022, and officially married September 10th, 2023. We couldn’t be happier together and are always grateful to Ms. McKie who was our accidental AVID tutor matchmaker. Emily is currently working for a print and design company and Nick is working as a Manufacturing Engineer at an Aerospace company. I got the email to share an alumni sweetheart story and I felt it was only right since it’s also been 10 years (going on 11 now) since we graduated high school!
